A Deep Family Workshop Tradition

The Hoser family watchmaking tradition began in Vienna in the eighteenth century and moved to Buda in the early nineteenth. Victor Hoser Jr. later operated a precision workshop at Döbrentei utca 21.

Precision Work

The workshop used modern mechanical equipment, and Hoser's broader work included highly accurate clocks and precision timekeeping.

Chess Clocks

Hungarian research states directly that Hoser made chess clocks alongside wristwatches, pocket watches, standing clocks, and wall clocks, although detailed production records are lacking.

Historical Significance

Hoser represents the precision-workshop route into chess timing: more securely a maker than a pure retailer, but still distinct from the later Danuvia/MOM factory model.
