Chronotechna — Tempo and Radio

Two object families that show the postwar state platform producing more than one standardized chess-clock form.

Tempo Chronotechna clock in a wooden case.

Tempo

Tempo appears to be an early Chronotechna-family chess clock, although the exact model chronology remains unclear.

The Radio-Shaped Clock

The molded Bakelite radio-shaped Chronotechna is visually much more modern than the usual rectangular wooden tournament clock. Its three-button arrangement and compact consumer-product case give it a distinct identity.

Object-Based Reconstruction

The surviving evidence is stronger at the object level than in factory catalogs, so the sequence between these designs should remain cautious.

Historical Significance

Together, Tempo and the radio-shaped clock demonstrate that Chronotechna was a platform for multiple chess-timing designs rather than a single model.
